Principal DevOps Engineer

Location: Central or Eastern Europe

We are looking for a Principal DevOps / Platform Engineer to help shape and evolve the production infrastructure of an international, high-load fintech platform.

This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on cloud architecture, scalability, reliability, security, and automation. You’ll work across Azure and GCP, drive infrastructure improvements, and help establish robust engineering and DevSecOps practices for a production environment where reliability matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, evolve, and optimize cloud infrastructure across Azure and GCP.
• Architect, operate, and scale production AKS/Kubernetes clusters using Helm.
• Manage critical cloud services, including Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Azure Cache for Redis, and GCP BigQuery.
• Develop and maintain scalable, reusable Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code with proper environment isolation and safe change management.
• Design and improve secure network architecture, including VNets, Private Endpoints, VPNs, segmentation, and secure connectivity.
• Build and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure Pipelines.
• Implement and enhance monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability across the platform.
• Drive automation and operational efficiency using Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell.
• Contribute to platform scalability, reliability, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering.
• Proven experience designing and operating production infrastructure for high-load systems.
• Strong expertise in Terraform, including modular architecture, environment isolation, and safe infrastructure changes.
• Solid production experience with Azure, particularly AKS, VNet, Private Endpoints, Key Vault, RBAC, and Managed Identities.
• Hands-on experience with Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server and Azure Cache for Redis.
• Practical experience with GCP, particularly BigQuery.
• Strong Kubernetes and Helm skills.
• Experience configuring VPNs and secure network connectivity.
• Strong understanding of network security, segmentation, and zero-trust principles.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and processes.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Azure Monitor.
• Strong automation skills with Bash, Python, or PowerShell.

Security & Processes

• Practical experience implementing security best practices in production environments.
• Solid understanding of DevSecOps principles.
• Experience with IAM, RBAC, and secrets management.
• Experience preparing infrastructure for internal and external audits.
• Understanding of compliance requirements in fintech or other regulated environments.
• Experience conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Experience establishing and improving incident response and postmortem processes.
• Understanding of SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets.

Will Be a Plus

• Experience with Cloudflare.
• Experience with Service Bus or other messaging systems.
• Previous experience working with high-load platforms or fintech products

Business Proficiency in Russian is a must
